We recently took our family trip to Washington, DC and had the opportunity to tour several landmarks and historical buildings. We attempted to find a day tour that would fit into our plans to also visit family, however after realizing that we could walk The National Mall, and get just as good a tour as a paid versions, we were off to a great experience!
I was in ahhh of this view and the melting pot of global citizenship all around us!
Up next, The White House
The National Museum of African American History and Culture is currently under construction and isn’t due to grand open until 2016, so we weren’t able to tour. However it has been added to our family’s vacation bucket list for next year.
Another on the list, The US Department of Agriculture…
With the history that accompanies our Historic capital, it was interesting to learn how it along with the change in architectural taste and style influenced why The Washington Monument was “accidentally” painted two different shades, lighter at the bottom.
Even the smallest pleasures were an added treat to our feet towards the end of our long day’s journey.
